For Father’s Day I bought dad a Red Letter Day dining experience for two. It was at Marco Pierre White’s restaurant in the city.
What do you buy the man who has everything? Well experiences are always a winner for me! Scrolling through the Red Letter Day website and I came across this beauty.
Dad loves food, he loves London and he loves spending quality time with his children… So this seemed like a winner.
This package included a three-course meal and cocktail for two. You could also pick from the two locations: City & Chelsea.
While I like to think of myself as a bit of a Chelsea girl, City was much more of a sensible option because it was close to work and quick & easy to get back to Waterloo from.
Because the experience isn’t from a discount website and just a luxury package, there are no limitations on days and times. This was great and meant that we could work around my dads crazy busy schedule at the moment.
“London Steakhouse Co comprises the original and only two steakhouses worldwide owned by Marco Pierre White.

On arrival, we were greeted by very friendly staff who took our bags (if you wanted them too) and seated you. We each picked our cocktail of choice. There were three to choose from: Vodka based, Whisky based & Rum based. Now I’m normally a massive rum fan, but I loved the sound of Passion Jazz, which was vodka and passion fruit… It was so delicious. Dad went for the rum one so that I could try it and he was very impressed – They certainly weren’t stingy on the alcohol!
The waiters were very efficient and attentive. They come over with their iPad like gadget, ready for orders to be sent directly to the kitchen with any additional requests. I can’t fault the service we received.
WHAT TO EAT
Dad and I like to try a bit of everything, we always order something different that we both want to try. That being said, we ordered the Crab and Rib starter. I has the Crab salad and dad had the Beef short ribs. We both had a bit of both and they were incredible! I think dad’s ribs may have just won over the crab salad.
(sorry the pictures are poor quality, the lighting was not the best)
Next up was mains, one of us obviously had to order steak but beef wellington was also on the menu for an additional charge. Both of us love beef wellington. When I went to order it, the waiter thought I may not manage it because it’s so big… So I went for the 8oz rump steak and fat boy ordered with beef welly! We got some greens and creamy mash to have on the side too.
Both mains were incredible – truly delicious. Once again I think that dads beef wellington may have just triumphed mine because the pastry was out of this world. I don’t think I’ve ever had better pastry!
I would like to clarify that I had cleared both my plates and I was ready for pudding. The waiter underestimated me! Time for pud!
If I see the word chocolate on a menu, 9 times out of 10, that’s what I’m ordering. Chocolate and chestnut truffle cake caught my eye but it had cherry coulis with it.
I’m not a cherry fan and when I mentioned that to the waiter, it was no problem at all to have it without. Dad went for the cheesecake, which was the second option on my list – so I was very pleased with that!
We polished off both nicely, feeling well and truly full-to-the-brim!
