Time for Tea

Another school holiday, means more time to do stuff in London in the week. Honestly, one of my favourite things to do when I’m off work is to go into London. I’m lucky enough to have almost two weeks off for Easter and so I have already managed to get up there twice!

Myself and a colleague organised an afternoon tea to catch up outside of work. I actually got it for her for Christmas as a little treat. You know I love an afternoon tea and when champagne is involved – I’m all in!

THE BENTLEY

I found The Bentley in a number of searches I did when finding somwhere nice to book afternoon tea. It had great reviews and looked beautiful. I also loved it because it is located in the heart of Kensington.

Afternoon tea was in their Peridot restaurant and it was designed and laid out very elegantly with the most opulent of surroundings.

“Peridot is our brasserie offering breakfast, lunch, dinner and afternoon tea. Peridot is set in a light summery room with refreshing natural day light and a view of neighbouring residential gardens. We offer traditional English breakfast, Brunch as well as options for the healthy diner or business person who wants to eat and go!”

From start to finish, we were made to feel special. I pulled up outside and was greeted by a lovely doorman who opened the door for me. On arrival, someone came and took me to the afternoon tea area. My plus one was not yet here and so I was seated and brought champagne!

When she arrived we were offered the sofa area, this was really lovely and intimate. It was away from the main afternoon tea area but you still felt part of the atmosphere.

THE AFTERNOON TEA

Firstly, we were brought champagne and asked to pick a tea from the selection. I went for good old English Breakfast. We were then brought a selection of mini sandwiches and this gorgeous selection of cakes.

The cakes were absolutely gorgeous and I did manage to eat all of them except one (which I did still try)! One thing I would have liked would have been a clean plate for after I had eaten the sandwiches. I don’t know about you but coronation chicken with chocolate cake is not the one for me.

We were given a selection of scones with beautiful clotted cream and strawberry jam. They were delicious and tasted really fresh.

The service in the restaurant was fairly good. They checked we were happy with everything at the beginning and again at the end, but when I tried to get their attention for a clean plate… I struggled.

I also wanted to quickly mention the restrooms. You have to pay them a visit, you can take the spiral staircase down to the grand piano or the lavish elevators.

The design is luxurious and old school, there were dressing tables for you to “powder your nose” and the most gorgeous sinks with beautiful soaps and lotions.

PRICES

If you pre-book your afternoon tea with The Bentley Hotel, you will pay £35.00 per person and that includes a glass of champagne. I have also seen that The Bentley hotel work in partnership with lots of other companies offering even better deals, so I would recommend searching around first.
