The perfect weekend wander for me is going up into London and exploring the streets and what they have to offer. Maltby Street Market is up their with one of my favourites.
Maltby Street market is a place for foodies and antiques and each time I’ve visited I have been so impressed with the food! The markets are actually one of the main reasons that I would love to live in London. I think it would be so cool to just pop out for a stroll and stumble upon one of the scrumptious food markets.
Last time we visited Maltby we all went for a different dish, I decided to go for the german hot dog from “Herman ze German“, which was amazing but then we stumbled across this stall that had a massive wok filled with meat, cheese and potato and I spent the rest of the afternoon salivating at the thought, but also being too full from the sausage to enjoy! 😉
This time I was no rookie and I headed right to it! The stalls there will always let you try before you buy so I did stop and sample the competition but this was still calling my name! The lady really filled my polystyrine plate, which I was very happy about and you also get some french bread with it for £5.00.
We spotted a couple vacating their table outside our favourite cocktail spot “Little Bird” and made a move for it, if you’re struggling to find it, look for the big lit up ALOHA sign and it’s opposite. I decided on the little sparkler and Ed went for his favourite, a bloody Mary. We sipped these while polishing off my generous portion of salivating goodness… yes, I don’t know what it’s called but it really didn’t matter.
Ed then headed for the pork stand and it sat on a bed of gravy and chips… calorific! Talking of calories, the Bad Brownie is my next stop, I have a real sweet tooth and my two favourite things are brownies and JAFFA CAKES! I’m obsessed with both. The Bad Brownie Company must have known as they had a limited edition Jaffa cake brownie – and it was phenomenal!
The food market has everything you could wish for from organic, vegetarian, meat eaters or chocolate lovers – they even had a stand that made sushi burgers!
This place is honestly incredible for foodies, so head to Bermondsey and check it out!
It was a really nice day, although it doesn’t look like it in the pictures, so we decided to walk from the station home through Bushy Park – my favourite.
